What is the 24HCP?

The 24 Hour Citizen Project is an event where we connect people with community-focused ideas with expertise and financial backers to make them happen. This is an event created for citizens to impact their community directly through the pursuit of citizen-led projects. Be prepared to experience the ups and downs of pursuing your idea, the pressure of getting it done in 24 hours, and the encouragement given to you by your fellow citizens cheering you on!

Citizen Teams

If given the funding and resources, what could you do to better your community? At the 24 Hour Citizen Project, we’ll connect your vision with the expertise and backers to make it happen.

Attend

That’s right. Attending is participating too! Come sit back, have some fun, and join the party. Be prepared to show your support to the Citizen Teams through lots of cheering, yelling, hugs, and high fives. We treat the event as a celebration of community.
You should too!

Experts

Every idea needs advice and guidance. Whether it be an attorney, a designer on aesthetics, a local government official, a handyman, or just someone to give you critical feedback. You can be a resource to the citizens who may (or may not) need you.

Backers

Backers are like investors, but are contributing to their community instead of a business. Backers will judge the citizen’s ideas during the final pitch event at Hour 24. And yes, contributions to projects will be tax deductible unless otherwise noted.

The Concept

The Schedule

Here’s what happens during the 24 Hour Citizen Project:

Friday: Dream it.

1.) Learn From Experts

Meet with the people in the community who know how to push your project forward.

3.) Finalize Pitch Presentation

Once your work is done, make any last minute changes to your pitch presentation.

2.) Get To Work

Your project’s direction may change after meeting with the experts.

4.) Late Night Networking With Teams

Share what you’ve learned with other projects. Be prepared to stay up late because it’s a great time.

Saturday: Pitch it. Fund it.

1.) Social Hour

The audience arrives, and gets to visit with all the Citizen Teams to learn about your cool projects.

3.) Announce Winners

The Backers have a brief huddle to discuss all the pitches, and choose the projects to be funded.

2.) Pitch

This is what your team has been working towards for the past 24 hours. You’ll have 3 minutes to pitch your project to the Backers and the audience.

4.) Celebrate

The 24HCP is a celebration of community, and the willingness of citizens to care about their public spaces. Plan to celebrate together once the hard work is over!
